Running today was not bad, only 2 slow miles. The wind was so horrible, it felt like no matter what direction I was running it was blowing right in my face! I also got a side ache about .5 miles in????? What can I do to pervent this?

i like your name. so many different ways to spell it!

about the side ache:

- running too soon after a meal?

- starting out too fast?

- abrupt change in breathing patterns and/or pace?

best way to get rid of it:

-pay attention to your breathing. what foot is hitting the ground when you breathe out? if your right foot hits the ground when you breathe out, change the breathing pattern so that your left foot is now striking when you breathe out. this usually works.

-you can also try slowing down just a bit and taking a few really deep breaths. exhale hard like you are blowing out candles on a birthday cake.

-change your posture---lean left or right to change the pressure on your stomach muscles.

-if all else fails, do a somersault :)

Thanks! You name is not half bad either :) Thanks for the tips with the cramps. I think you are right, it was my breathing. Sometimes if i dont concentrate on it when i am running in the wind i get totally "off."

I used to get side aches a lot too. I have found that not eating right before a run and breathing steadily help a lot. Good luck with that!

Okay, thanks. I am going to work on my breathing and see if that helps :)

Hey All! I just wanted to see which of you would look. Ally or allie. That's a little joke of mine. It's a lot funnier in person.

I love running at night for some reason. Well maybe it was because it rained today and the air was so clean and it smelled so good. I should have kept going but I knew Zach would be worried. He does not like me running at night by myself and would have gone with me but Charly was already sleeping. I dont quite trust my Yorkie to watch over my nine month old yet even though she probides constant entertainment which is nice :) Have a good night! P.S. I love this weather!!!!

It was so beautiful out last night. I am starting to feel really good when I am running and wanted to go farther but since I am just starting out I dont want to get sore or hurt myself.
